PROGRAM FOR THE AFAD SEMINAR IN SRI LANKA
September 1-8, 1999
1. OBJECTIVES
The project aims to consolidate the member organizations of
AFAD through inputs, workshops and discussions on the topics
mentioned below. In the consolidation process, necessarily,
the federation shall then be equipped with the strength to
consolidate by reaching out to other organizations from
other Asian countries and thus, be prepared for its major
organizational endeavor - the first Regional Congress to be
held in May 2000.
The following are the specific target results of the
project:
1. To enable the member organizations of AFAD to
understand deeply the international phenomenon of
involuntary disappearances and link the global
situation to the particular situations of their
respective countries;
2. To enable the member organizations of AFAD to undertand
deeply the organizational situation of all the AFAD
members, share and learn from each other's experiences.
3. To be able to respond to particular needs of distinct
member organizations of AFAD and common needs of all
AFAD members.
4. To be able to formulate an initial strategic plan -
2000-2003, which shall serve as a draft to be ratified
by the First Regional Congress.
5. To prepare for the visit of the UN Working Group on
Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to Sri Lanka.
