Testimony of Rubén Victor Saposnik - File N° 1906

My parents had already been missing for a month when I was arrested by an armed person who identified himself as a Corporal in the 7th Regiment, La Plata. The arrest took place in the street on 14 July 1976 at 14.00 hours. I was immediately taken to this same 7th Regiment.

I was then put in the boot of a vehicle ...

I was taken to a place where other people were waiting and they began questioning me and torturing me with an electric prod.

I stayed there until 29 August 1976 when I was taken in an army vehicle (with other prisoners) to Police Station No. 3 in Lanús Oeste, Buenos Aires province.

I was notified by Decree No. 2705 of 30 October 1976 (photocopy enclosed) that I was being held at the disposition of the National Executive. During my illegal detention I learned from other prisoners that the secret detention centre was called Pozo de Arana.

At the end of January 1977 I was transferred to Unit 9 in La Plata. I was released on 18 July 1980.

Rubén V. Saposnik was illegally detained and suffered all kinds of ill-treatment from 14 July until 30 October 1976. He remained in prison for another four years at the disposition of the National Executive, with no legitimate reason for such a long period of loss of liberty ever being given.

The deposition relevant to his illegal detention and torture was presented to Court No. 1 in La Plata.
