Part I
The Repression

Nunca Más (Never Again) - Report of Conadep  - 1984

121st Battalion - Santa Fe Province (PAC)

Location:

Barrio Saladillo, to the south of the city of Rosario, Santa Fe province.

Description:

The Battalion is entered through a barrier, after authorization from the guard. Further on there is another guarded barrier. Entrance to the SDC itself is through a door opening into an enclosure, from which a glass door leads to a passage about thirty or forty paces long. On each side there are fourteen or fifteen cells. There is a bathroom at the beginning of the passage with a door partition. Inside the bathroom is a heavy metal bar, to which one band of the prisoner's handcuffs was fastened. The cells are five paces wide by ten paces long. The ceiling of the building is very high. The cells are separated from each other by walls 2 metres high. Each has a solid wooden door with a lock. To the right of this is a large window with old shutters, fastened from the outside with wire. These openings overlooked an internal courtyard which was the same length as the corridor. Tiled floors and metal bedframes painted orange.
