Nunca Más (Never Again) - Report of Conadep  - 1984
 

 

Orletti Motors (PAC)


Location:

Calle Venancio Flores 3519/21, Emilio Lamarca corner, Buenos Aires city.


Description:

Old workshop with the sign 'Orletti Motors' outside. it had a large door with a rolling metal shutter; on the left was an armour-plated door with spyhole, which was opened mechanically by radio control on the signal 'Operation Sesame'. A two-storey building. On the ground floor there was a large room, 6 to 8 metres by 30 metres. A low partition separated the lavatory (one for thirty people) from the washroom. A concrete staircase with metal steps led out of the room. Concrete floor, covered with dirt and grease, Car chassis were lying around, also confiscated cars. There was a large water tank with a pulley over it, from which prisoners were hung for the submarino. A military flag hung near the ceiling. 0n the Upper floor there was an interrogation room, another torture room and a terrace where clothes were hung to dry. The soldiers called this centre 'the Garden'. The Argentinian Army ran it in conjunction with the Uruguayan Army. Interrogations were led by the Federal police Authority.
