The Fronterita Tenements

Location:

Approximately 300 metres from the Fronterita Sugar Mill, on a road adjoining it.

Description:

A building facing the road which forms part of the so-called 'Fronterita tenements'. It was occupied by army personnel, having previously been used as accommodation for seasonal workers at the sugar mill. Although now surrounded by a wire fence, this was not in place when it was a secret detention centre. The building is divided into two small rooms, each with a separate entrance. opposite the door against the wall in one of the rooms was a concrete table on which prisoners were tortured. Beside the door, in the upper part of the left-hand wall, there was a small wooden window.
