E. Members of the Clergy and Religious Orders
It does not seem redundant to repeat once more that the drama of the illegal repression in Argentina was that each and every sector of society suffered. The clergy and lay members of the Catholic Church and other churches were affected.
Members of the Church who were committed to helping the least fortunate, or who denounced the systematic violation of human rights, were persecuted by state terrorism in a way that was particularly cruel. Thus, Catholic priests and nuns, seminarists and catechists, and members of other faiths were kidnapped, beaten, tortured and, in many cases, killed.
