Part I
The Repression

Nunca Más (Never Again) - Report of Conadep  - 1984

Mar del Plata Air Base (PAC)

National Highway No. 2, bordering with the airport of the town of Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires province.

The place used as a secret detention centre is inside the base, 600 metres from the main entrance. It is an underground structure with an old radar tower above it. It has been converted for use as an auxiliary arsenal.

Externally it is a trapezoidal-shaped mound of earth with an entrance almost level with the ground. To get into the building, one had to climb down about fifteen steps leading to a passage, on the right of which was the boiler room, which was used as a torture room, the kitchen and bathroom. On the left-hand side there were six enclosures of various sizes which were used as cells-, access to all of these was through others, as they didn't have doors leading directly to the corridor.
