Part I
The Repression

Nunca Más (Never Again) - Report of Conadep  - 1984

Certificates of goods seized from the homes of victims

It is a known fact that when kidnappings took place the victims' possessions were looted.

This Commission has been able to produce documentary evidence to prove that these occurrences were known to the authorities. Furthermore these activities constituted a well-used modus operandi which was very carefully worked out.

In the case of the disappearance of Nora Livia Formiga (file No. 911), on the day following her kidnapping her home was looted and all the movable items were taken. A certificate was made out with the title 'Certificate' on paper headed 'The Argentine Army'.

In the city of La Plata on 25 November 1977 the following certificate is drawn up to record the objects removed from the property at No. 1271, Calle 54.

It was signed by the officer and NCO who were involved in the operation. In this particular case, because the property was rented, the certificate was handed to the owner of the property.
