Disappearance of Héctor Ernesto Demarchi - File N° 802

Demarchi was a journalist on El Cronista Comercial and a member of the Executive Committee of the Buenos Aires Association of journalists. He gave up his job on the newspaper because he feared that he would be punished at any moment for his trade union activities. Nonetheless, on 5 August 1976 he went to the newspaper to collect his wages. After leaving the building, in broad daylight, and accompanied by a colleague, he was seized by a group of armed men half a block from the Ministry of Labour, and put into a Chevrolet van, whose numberplates are known. Nothing more was ever heard of him.
